Its food carries the same layered story, and our Santiago culinary tour walks you through all of it, one bite at a time.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">Over three hours and six stops, your local guide leads you from the historic downtown to the heritage streets of Lastarria, tying each plate to the history around you. You'll taste how Indigenous corn, Spanish stews, the colors of the Italian flag on a hot dog, German cheese, and a French vine once presumed extinct all found a home on the Chilean plate. What You’ll Taste

<p style="margin-left:0px;">We built this route to see two sides of Santiagos in a single afternoon. It starts where the city started. Pedro de Valdivia founded Santiago at the Plaza de Armas in 1541, and the blocks around it still hold the cathedral, the oldest eateries in town, and Mercado Central, feeding the city from the coast since the 1800s. Order lunch here and you're eating where Santiago has eaten for generations.</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">&nbsp;</p><p style="margin-left:0px;">The route then crosses into Lastarria, a protected heritage quarter of narrow façades, bookstores, wine bars, small artisan shops and cafés along leafy streets. This is the other side of the city: green, creative, and made for walking.
